Chapter 9: Stress-Related Disorders - Introduction to the Second Edition

The direct relationship between stress and disease is now well-known and widely accepted. Chapter 9 presents a variety of alternative therapies for preventing, treating, or reversing such stress-related disorders as headaches, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers, and atherosclerosis. The revised chapter discusses the effectiveness of acupuncture, Bach flowers, and biofeedback in relieving headaches; the use of botanical medicines in lowering high blood pressure; and the use of bayberry, chamomile, goldenseal, and licorice power to relieve ulcers.
