How to Use This Book - Introduction to the Second Edition

Chapter 1 presents an overview of each specialty in alternative medicine, from complete systems such as Ayurvedic medicine to very specialized bodywork therapies such as Aston Patterning. After reading Chapter 1, readers can turn directly to chapters that may be of particular interest to them. Beginning with Chapter 2, the specific components of alternative medicine are described in detail. As with the first edition, the progression of the 19 chapters in this edition provides a comprehensive manual to maintaining vibrant health through nutrition, orthomolecular medicine, botanical medicine, detoxification, stress reduction, and psychoimmunological therapies such as positive thinking. Chapter 9 begins the discussion of alternative treatments for specific disorders. The index at the back of the book provides a quick reference to pages that discuss specific topics. There is a listing of resources included at the end of each chapter that cites references and additional books and articles on the topics discussed, as well as related organizations that can provide more information.
