Suma ( Pfaffia paniculata )

Suma, also known as Brazilian ginseng, is native to the Atlantic rain forest region of Brazil. According to Weiner's Herbal , scientists have discovered several anti-cancer and anabolic effects of the three principle active ingredients in Suma: pfaffic acid, phytosterols, and pfaffosides (saponins). Other trace elements have been found in the herb, including germanium, allantonin, and various vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

The suma root has been used by native Brazilians for centuries as a tonic, aphrodisiac, and as a remedy for diabetes, ulcers, cancer, and general wound healing. Weiner's Herbal states that suma extracts have been used for muscle-building and for treating chronic fatigue syndrome. Suma is also known as an adaptogen because of its ability to promote endurance and increased vitality.
