Toxins in the Home - Strengthening the Immune System

Toxins in the Home

The home may also be full of toxins–even from innocent sources. Ordinary building materials used for house walls, floors, insulation, roofing treatments, paints, and plastic tiles are often toxic. Even something as seemingly innocuous as new carpeting has been linked to a variety of respiratory and nervous ailments. According to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission report cited in the November 3, 1993, issue of the Associated Press , these ailments have flu-like symptoms such as weakness, aching joints, congestion, nosebleeds, and even dementia. Many people now have their homes professionally examined for toxins and replace toxic materials with non-toxic substitutes where possible.
